Museum of History Iskra Kazanlak has a long history dating back from 1901. It was founded by Petar Topuzov and it is an important cultural center in the town of Kazanlak.
Museum Iskra has more than 70 000 original exhibits that show the rich cultural heritage of the region of Kazanlak. The museum explores, preserves and promotes this heritage among the citizens of Kazanlak and tourists that visit the city.
In the Museum of History Iskra you can see permanent exhibitions of the following department: Ethnography, Archeology, Bulgarian National Revival, New History, Modern History. It stores the largest collection of bone sickles in Southeastern Europe, as well as knives, firearms, medieval pottery, jewelry and folk costumes.
The museum has a treasury room where you can see bronze, silver and gold finds from Thracian tombs-temples from the region of Kazanlak. Some of them are – the unique golden wreath of Seuthes III, his helmets and greaves, his overall silver and gold horse trappings, a collection of coins and other Thracians objects.
There is an exceptional attraction – specially prepared exposure of the lutherie art, which has a long tradition in the region.
