Description
The Plovdiv Drama Theater is one of the leading institutes for theater art in the country.
It has various performances around the country and abroad and it is a host and a co-organizer of the annual International theater festival “Scene on a Crossroad”, which is held in September.
Many of the most popular Bulgarian actors and directors have begun their careers at the troupe of Plovdiv Drama theater - Todor Kolev, Stefan Danailov, Maria Stefanova, Tsvetana Maneva, Marius Donkin, Nevena Kaludova, Hristo Mutafchiev, Krikor Azaryan, Hristo Hristov, Yulia Ognyanova, Lyuben Grois and many others.
The Plovdiv Drama Theater has:
A main stage with 468 seats
A chamber hall with 114 seats
A summer stage in the yard of the theater
After the merger with the Rhodopi Drama Theater, the theater in Plovdiv gain two stages in the city of Smolyan
The theater and its actors are recipients of many national theatrical awards.
The Plovdiv Drama Theater successfully contributes to the enrichment of culture and it is an important center which preserves Bulgarian theater art.
