Description
The history of Regional historical museum began as a school museum collection of Sava Dobroplodni in 1857. Today the museum is a cultural center of the city and it has nine departments and a research group.
The RHM – Shumen preserves more than 150 000 cultural monuments, even from the Neolithic-Chalcolithic Age, 15 000 of them are exhibited at the exhibition halls of the museum. At different periods of time the museum organizes temporary exhibitions.
The museum has its own edition - „Journal of the historical museum – Shumen“, and a library which contains a variety of scientific literature and periodicals.
It also owns restoration studios and it is engaged in researches in the region of Shumen.
